Side Effects Cancer has been around for longer than 1,000 years. The first case was documented in Ancient Egypt, in 3000 B.C. There were about 231,840 invasive cases of breast cancer in 2015. Americans have been greatly impacted by all types of cancer. Breast, Lung, and Prostate cancer are the most frequently diagnosed cancers in America. Some cancers canââ¬â¢t be avoided. Some cancers come from decisions we make, such as lung cancer. There are only three main causes of lung cancer: cigarette smoking, tobacco, and second-hand smoking. Of course there are other ways, though cigarette smoking, alone contributes to 80 to 90% of lung cancer patients. Many doctors have tried to understand how breast cancer is caused, but one thing they do know is breast cancer is caused when there is damage to a cellââ¬â¢s DNA. Prostate cancer is also difficult to pin-point a cause. Basically there is a change in the cellââ¬â¢s DNA. Cancer is not easily noticed. If you are curious that you have breast, lung, or prostate cancer, there are signs that can help you be aware. There are a few common signs when it comes to Breast Cancer, the most common are: itching of the breast, pain in breasts, and lumps or swelling around collarbone or armpits. The Three Faces Of Psycho THE THREE FACES OF PSYCHO Psycho has no doubt become one of the most beloved horror stories of all times. It is an undisputed classic. It spins a well-known tale of how the person living next door, in the next room, or down the road just might not be all they seem on the outside. Psycho first came into the world as a literary novel in 1958. It would become Robert Bloch's signature piece. It told the story of a young woman named Mary Crane who was given the ultimate chance at the American Dream by stealing money from work and marrying the man of her dreams. It also told of her untimely demise at the hands of Norman Bates, quiet and shy hotel proprietor. The novel appealed to the public not only because of the suspense and horror of the story, but because the reader could easily identify with the characters. Mary-simply because everyone wants the American dream and will go to unreal lengths to achieve it at times. Norman-because everyone has had to live up to a parent's expectations and fallen short at one time or another. In these characters, we find a sense of loneliness and desperation. Shortly after the release and immediate success of the novel, Psycho, the master of film horror decided to introduce the book to the big screen. Alfred Hitchcock made Psycho into an instant horror classic in 1960. With an adapted version of the novel, a screenplay by Joseph Stefano, some character's names were changed and actors were hired, but the story remained the same. Almost forty years later, following the release of Hitchcock's Psycho, director Gus Van Sant brought the picture back to the screen. The big difference was that he added color and modernized the picture. Van Sant's goal was to remain true to the original picture, but took advantage of what the 90's culture had to offer. The base story of Psycho remains basically the same in the novel and film versions. A young woman disappears with money from her office to be used to create a better life for her boyfriend and herself. Along the way to meet her love, she stops at a roadside motel and meets the young owner Norman. After some deep conversation, she goes to her room and is murdered by Norman. It then becomes the quest of her younger sister to find her. Her sister, Lila, along with her boyfriend Sam, and an ill-fated private detective, they work to find the terrible secret of Norman Bates and the fate of Mary/Marion. The differences in the movies and the novel are subtle at times and at others, vast. Each director of the film chose to take different angles at some aspects of the story. Hitchcock was working within the confines of the late 50s and early 60s. One major change that was made in the movie was the physical appearance of the character, Norman. In the novel, Norman Bates is middle-aged man with a ?plump face?rimless glasses?scalp beneath thinning sandy hair.? (Bloch 10.) In the first screen adaptation, Norman became somewhat attractive. He looked like the boy next door. Anthony Perkins played the part that just by looking at Norman you felt sympathetic for him. He looked like a normal trustworthy person (Hitchcock, 1960.) Hitchcock was also creating a movie in a time where explicit sexuality and nudity were taboo. The now famous shower scene, where Marion is murdered, took seven days and over 700 camera angles to shoot. Hitchcock wanted to make sure that there were no actual slashing shots shown or any nudity (Hitchcock/Psycho Trailer.) That would be left up to the viewer to use their imagination. Hitchcock chose the design of the house, which stands behind the Bates Motel. He believed that it cast a sinister feel on the whole area. In comparison, the 1998 version of the story was subject to more leniency. Director Van Sant chose to add nudity and visible stab wounds to the shower scene (Van Sant 98.) In the novel, Bloch is very descriptive about how Mary undresses and looks at her nude self in the mirror. The shower scene itself is very quick lived. Mary hears the scream

Euthinasia essays The topic of euthanasia was frontline news in 1992 when a woman named Sue Rodriques challenged the Supreme Court of Canada. Ms. Rodriques suffered from Lou Gehrigs disease and wanted a court order that would allow someone to provide the means to assist her in taking her life at the time of her choosing. Due to this many Canadians began to discuss, and debate, the issue of euthanasia or assisted suicide. Jack Kevorkian has also been a high profile advocate for assisted suicide and has challenged the laws in the US and brought worldwide attention to this issue. The term euthanasia means easy death inducing a gentle, painless death. Euthanasia is the deliberate painless termination of life to prevent unavoidable suffering. Involuntary euthanasia is the deliberate taking of a suffering persons life without the persons explicit request. This is done by administration of painkillers, usually morphine; with the intent to ease a dying persons pain and remove distress symptoms with the understanding the drug may unintentionally hasten the persons death. Active voluntary euthanasia requires the consent of the patient and is putting to death a person who, due to disease or extreme age, feels they can no longer lead a meaningful life. Both Ms. Rodriquez and Kevorkian address the issue of active voluntary physician assisted euthanasia or assisted suicide. At the start of the play, Torvald calls Nora many names likes ââ¬Å"skylarkâ⬠, and ââ¬Å"little featherhead. â⬠The funny thing is Nora acknowledge them, and continues devotion, and love for her husband. Nora is the doll in the play basically trying to please everyone except herself. Because Torvald views his public persona as more important than his private, he is unable to understand or appreciate the suffering of his wife(Metzger. Action from Nora shows her innocence. A bona fide wife deserves respect whether she is a liar or not. Respect and faith fluctuate in many ways. Like, a familiar phrase my mother always says, ââ¬Å"you donââ¬â¢t have to like a person, but you have to respect themâ⬠. A person can have trust in the person or not respect is always in order. Nora former classmate Mrs. Linde is lo oking for a job come to chat about her hard time and Nora begin to share her blessing. Nora slip and told her dark secret to Mrs. Linde. The trip to Italy to save Torvaldââ¬â¢s life was well said, ââ¬Å"better dead than aliveâ⬠! Had Nora not urgently forge her father name for a large amount of money from Krogstad. Nora would not have to lie, and gradually rob Torvald to pay off his life through her. A course a wife, never want to lose her husband. Many times she would do all she can. Nevertheless, a wise wife would embark upon the situation so that it will not attack her family life for the bad only better with a plan in the beginning. In Nora case, she made an awful choice that is now ruining her marriage, and children. As for Krogstad, he could lose his career, possibly his only job. Nora could just vision everything was coming to a end like the walls were closing up on her the pressure was getting the best of her. As time, get closer to Torvald taking over the bank. Time begins to run out for Nora because of the disarray of lying to Torvald, and the rate Krogstad could lose his job as well as his reputation. It was nice of Krogstad to loan Nora the money, but unethical on his end also. Now result in the end Krogstad was label for fraud. Business mind make sure that the start was of business was in good standard so that they want be set-up. For Nora sharp thinking work out fine in the beginning but in the end, it caught up with her. In this case, Krogstad black mailed her to get what is essential to him through her husband. In conclusion, a foolish mistake can sometime hurt others as well as yourself. If we can only turn back the hand of time thing would be so much different. Nora is a phony and accepts it until she understands herself through Krogstad and vice versa. In a devolved economic system, these questions are resolved. This lead to economic coordination to achieved through the price mechanism(Elton, 2014). The basic economic problem is about scarcity and choice since there are only a limited amount of resources available to produce the unlimited amount of goods and services which human, people wants and needs. Because of scarcity, various economic decisions must be made to allocate resources efficiently. Resources A resource is a means of support also can be regarded as any feature of our environment that helps to support our well being. There are three main types of resource: The first Physical or natural resource ââ¬â such as oil, climate, water, minerals, forests and fisheries. The second human resource ââ¬â peoples and their various skills. The third man made resources ââ¬â e.g. machines, equipments. Scarcity Scarcity can be broken down into four key ingredients of factors of production: Land ââ¬â Land includes all natural resources. Labour ââ¬â Labour includes all physical and mental effort. Capital ââ¬â Capital includes machinery and other items that go into further production. Enterprise ââ¬â enterprise is the art of combining the other three factors in the production process. Choice and opportunity cost Choice and opportunity cost are two fundamental concepts in economics. Given that resources are limited, producers and consumers have to make choices between competing alternatives. All economic decisions involve making choices. Individuals must choose how best to use their skill and effort, firms must choose how best to use their workers and machinery, and governments must choose how to use taxpayerââ¬â¢s money. Making an economic choice creates a sacrifice because alternatives must be given up, which results in the loss of benefit that the alternative would have provided. Similarly, land and other resources, which have been used to build a new school could have been used to build a new factory. The loss of thenext bestoption represents the real sacrifice and is referred to asopportunity cost. The opportunity cost of choosing the school is the loss of the factory, and what could have been produced. The price mechanism performs three main functions: Rationing The aim is to ration scare resources when demand in market outstrips supply. When there is a shortage of a good, the price is bid up, leaving only those with the willingness and ability to pay to purchase the product. This can causes supply and demand to reach equilibrium of demand and supply. Signaling function They adjust to demonstrate where resources are required or not, via a change in demand. For example, the price of goods which are scarce will increase. This increase in price should provide an incentive for producers to increase production of the good so that can meet the demand. This approach helps in handling the negative impact & allows the modeling of uncertainties in project schedule. However, it is not necessary that all the project management methodologies work well. In the dynamic industry environment, the basic aim of any project management strategy is to accomplish a task. However, it should be within the allocated budget and time while maintaining the quality of the final product. Project management approaches enable organisations to accomplish projects efficiently, addressing both internal constraints and dynamic external situations in the interim. Project management enables organisations to prevent or remove internal project constraints and also adapt to unforeseen changes in project scope or goals. This approach is useful in sending quality deliverables on time by proactively removing constraints. Extreme project approach This approach is suitable for projects which handle dynamic situations, such as, changing customer requirements. Often, it may not be possible to obtain a full clarity of requirements and a project may purely be guided by market changes. The mobile phone industry, which experiences rapid changes, is a case in point. The project team, hence, plans purely on the basis of the currently available data and depending on requirement changes, modifies plans. Event chain project approach According to this approach, a single constraint can create a chain of constraints and severely impede a project. For example, in a project, if several departments depend on one another, then constraints in any one department can negatively impact the productivity of downstream departments. A project team can use past data to foresee a negative event and identifyà preventive measures. Reliable data, collected over time, can even help track event chains. The Gantt chart is a popular event chain tracking tool. The event chain approach, hence, could be an excellent problem solving approach for critical projects.
